An expert in risk management with over 30 years’ experience, Sara Sirotzky, is a Managing Director for Marsh, the world’s leading insurance brokerage and risk advisor firm. In this role, Sara oversees client service teams in identifying, analyzing, and crafting solutions that address strategic, operational, financial, and hazard risks helping clients navigate the increasingly complex and volatile risk management landscape. Sara remains at the top of her field due to her commitment to client relations, traveling globally and at length to grasp and mitigate her clients’ risk exposures.

Sara, a native to Peru, joined Marsh in 1971 before transferring to its Chicago office in 1974. During her career with Marsh, Sara has served in multiple leadership roles including leading a Financial Analyst Unit. She has received numerous awards for service excellence and business growth including consecutive “Top Performer” awards by her firm and in 2011, was selected as one of Marsh’s Top 10 sales professionals. That same year she was also selected as “Global Power Broker” by Risk & Insurance Magazine.

Sara’s breadth of knowledge and experience has positioned her as a subject matter expert and frequent speaker on enterprise risk management and evolving risks. She has taught insurance courses and has published articles on risk in multiple industries. Sara has been featured in The Chicago Tribune’s Business section and in Business Insurance.

Sara is also a motivational speaker. In 2012, Sara was interviewed by WGN 720 AM regarding her career and success. She was invited by the peer advisory and executive coaching firm, Vistage, to speak on, “Are you Destined to be Successful or Determined to be Successful?” She has also spoken for the Professional Women Club of Chicago.

In 2009, Sara founded Executives Leaders in Transition (ELIT), a nonprofit organization that provides job referrals to senior executives in Finance and Human Resources.

Sara is a member of ELIT, The Chicago Club, Economic Club of Chicago, Chicago Finance Exchange, International Women’s Forum (IWF), Financial Executives International, Executives’ Club of Chicago, the National Association of Corporate Directors, and The Chicago Network.

Sara currently serves on the boards of ELIT, IWF Chicago and The Chicago Network. She has been a board member of several nonprofit and professional organizations including Joffrey Ballet, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital and the Executives’ Club of Chicago. For two consecutive years Sara has been the Co-Chair of the Women in the Forefront Luncheon, an annual event for The Chicago Network, with Diane Sawyer (2011) and Irene Rosenfeld (2012) as keynote speakers.

Sara received her Master’s in Business Administration from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management. She has her Master’s degree in Financial Markets and Trading from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Mundelein College (now, Loyola University).

Sara enjoys public speaking, reading and writing. Her first book, Red Rose and Blue Butterfly, will be published in September 2012. Sara is also an avid runner, having run several marathons. She is the proud mother of an adult son who works for NASA and a grandmother of two.
