Priscilla A. (Pam) Walter is a partner in the Chicago office of Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP and the founder of its Cyberlaw and Intellectual Property practice, which is part of the Technology Department. The Technology lawyers assist a full range of clients, from entrepreneurs to publicly held international companies, in addressing information technology and e-business issues as well as issues involving patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. Ms. Walter focuses her practice on cyberlaw and e- business solutions, including negotiating joint venture and strategic partnering relationships, assisting clients in the protection and distribution of software, databases and multimedia products and counseling with respect to related issues such as privacy and security. Ms. Walter has spoken and written extensively on e-commerce related topics.
Ms. Walter received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and earned a Master of Science degree at the London School of Economics. She is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif), where she was an editor of the Law Review. She then served as a law clerk to Judge Walter Cummings of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Walter served for six years on the firm’s Management Committee, and is a member of the Computer Law Association, the American Bar Foundation, and the Society for Information Management. She is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Institute of Technology, the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors of the Metropolitan Planning Council, of which she is a past Chair; Chairman of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Board of Directors; and a member of the Board of Overseers of Chicago Kent School of Law. Past Board experience includes The Latin School of Chicago, where she served for 12 years, including two as President of the Board, and the Field Museum of Natural History.
