Nina Appel is the former Dean of Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  She joined the full time faculty in 1973, served as Associate Dean from 1976-1983, and as Dean for 21 years till she stepped down in 2004. She continued to serve as a faculty member until her retirement in 2018.

During her 45 years in legal education, Nina served on many Boards and Committees.  She was the Chair of the A.B.A. Section on LegalEducation and Admissions to the Bar, and received the Kutak Award for service to legal education and the practice of law.

She did her undergraduate work at Cornell University and received her J.D. from Columbia University in 1959.
