Tanya Jaeger de Foras joined Ingredion as Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer, November 29, 2021. Tanya is a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to James P. Zallie, President & CEO. Tanya brings a wealth of diverse legal and international experience to the CLO role, having held senior- level leadership roles with major multinational companies, including Pfizer Inc, Luxottica SpA, and most recently Whirlpool Corporation.

Over her long legal career, Tanya has worked in a wide range of industries, including consumer durables, pharma, healthcare, and retail and luxury goods. She has more than 20 years of experience serving on global, regional, and functional leadership teams managing legal projects and issues in the United States, Canada, EMEA, Asia, and Latin America, while being based in the United States or Europe at different times in her career.

During her 10 years at Pfizer, Tanya worked in a series of roles of increasing responsibility, including global compliance, commercial, operations, and corporate law. This led to her ultimately being named Assistant General Counsel and Chief Counsel for the company’s $7 billion Specialty Care business unit for Europe, based in Rome, Italy. In this role, she led a matrixed team of attorneys across the region. At Luxottica, based in Milan, Italy, Tanya served three years as group Deputy General Counsel and as General Counsel for the EMEA region. In this role, she was responsible for corporate governance, global subsidiary management, and corporate M&A and licensing management, as well as for general legal support to the corporate divisions and functions, while overseeing all legal matters for the EMEA regional business.

In 2015, Tanya joined Whirlpool Corporation in Comerio, Italy, as Chief Legal Officer for the company’s $5 billion EMEA business unit. In this complex role, Tanya led M&A, integration, and restructuring activities, including all aspects of one of Whirlpool’s largest acquisitions, which involved legal entity mergers, resolution of union matters and government relations, and product liability and crisis management matters. In this role, Tanya supported the CEO and General Counsel in providing regular updates to the Whirlpool Corporation Board of Directors and its Audit Committee. In 2019, she relocated to Whirlpool’s corporate headquarters in Michigan to become Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for its Global Law Department. In this role, Tanya led the transformation of the company’s legal function into a truly global legal team with global specialty practice groups, supported and enabled by more than 70 locally embedded business counsels around the world who reported to her. She also took on responsibility for legal support and coordination with Global Corporate Strategy and M&A. This led to managing significant projects in Turkey and South Africa, and leadership in the high-profile transformation of Whirlpool Corporation’s shareholding position in China, selling its majority stake in its publicly listed Chinese subsidiary to a Chinese appliance maker.

Prior to her career in corporate law, Tanya worked for four years with the well-recognized law firm Sullivan & Cromwell in both New York and Paris, as well as having served as a litigation paralegal before law school. Tanya has a bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University and a doctorate in law from Harvard Law School. In addition to English, Tanya speaks Italian, French, and German, and has a working knowledge of Spanish. She has a proven track record of effectively working with and leading across many different cultures, and she will bring an approachable, transparent, and collaborative leadership style to the role.
