Kim Taylor joined the University in August 2014 as Vice President and General Counsel, leading the legal team
that advises and represents all units of the University. She also oversees the Department of Safety of Security,
which includes the University of Chicago Police Department, as well as campus parking and transportation.

Prior to joining the University, Taylor was an equity partner of Kirkland & Ellis, based in the firm’s New York office.
During her 18 years at Kirkland, she served as lead counsel to large buyout funds and private and public
companies in a wide variety of transactions, ranging from leveraged buyouts, mergers, stock and asset
acquisitions, recapitalizations, and private equity investments. Taylor also served as a partner at the Hilton &
Bishop law firm in Massachusetts where she represented both for profit and not-for-profit clients in a broad
range of transactions.

Taylor received her BA degree in history from the University of California at Berkeley, and her JD, with honors,
from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. She serves as a member of the Board of Directors
of High Jump and the Hyde Park Art Center, both in Chicago.
