Dr. Julie Hoff, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN, is Provost and Senior Vice President at Rush University and a nationally recognized leader in health professions education, clinical research, and higher education strategy. A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, she is recognized for the national impact of her contributions to nursing, health care, and academic leadership. As a prospective member of The Chicago Network, Dr. Hoff would bring the perspective of a senior academic and health care leader committed to advancing women’s leadership, strengthening cross-sector relationships, and contributing thoughtfully to the civic and professional life of Chicago.

At Rush University, Dr. Hoff advances institutional priorities that strengthen student success, expand research capacity, and connect education, scholarship, and clinical impact to the university’s mission to improve health outcomes and promote equity. Her leadership is grounded in partnership, openness to diverse perspectives, and a belief that meaningful transformation happens when people learn from one another, create opportunity, and invest in future talent. She takes great pride in empowering others and would contribute to The Chicago Network as a connector, mentor, and strategic thinker who values professional excellence and helping others lead with purpose.

Previously, Dr. Hoff served as Dean of the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Interim Chief Nurse Executive for OU Health, where she strengthened education, research, clinical practice, and workforce development. She also held leadership roles at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the University of Arkansas Eleanor Mann School of Nursing, and Elmhurst University, where she helped drive institutional growth, faculty development, student success, community impact, and workforce innovation. Across these roles, she has shaped high-impact academic programs, secured substantial funding, influenced health workforce policy, expanded clinical education, improved access in underserved communities, and advanced strategies to build a more resilient and adaptive health system.

An accomplished clinical researcher, Dr. Hoff’s interdisciplinary work in cardiovascular health promotion and disease prevention-including coronary artery calcium screening-continues to shape contemporary care. A dedicated mentor, advocate, and academic leader, she has guided faculty and students in research, leadership development, career advancement, and program evaluation. Her experience across education, research, health care, and workforce development would allow her to contribute meaningfully to conversations about leadership pipelines, health equity, talent development, and the future of Chicago’s academic and health care sectors.

Dr. Hoff earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rush University, followed by a Master of Public Health, Master of Science, and PhD in nursing science from the University of Illinois Chicago. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biobehavioral science at UIC, deepening her expertise in interdisciplinary health research, translational science, and academic leadership.

Dr. Hoff would hope to be an active and engaged contributor to The Chicago Network – one who listens, shares perspective, builds relationships across sectors, and supports opportunities for early-career women to learn from established leaders. She is especially drawn to settings where accomplished women can exchange ideas candidly, mentor rising professionals, and work together to strengthen the communities and institutions they serve.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Hoff enjoys reading, travel, and spending time with family and friends. She values experiences that spark curiosity, offer new perspectives, and deepen personal connections.
