Jennifer Lyons is an award-winning television news executive with 37 years of experience in local and national media. She currently serves as Regional President and General Manager for CBS Chicago and CBS Detroit.
Throughout her career, Lyons has focused on local television and digital news, with a deep commitment to informing and uplifting the communities she serves.
Prior to CBS, Lyons was Vice President of News for NewsNation, where she led the creation and launch of the national cable news network. In that role, she oversaw the design and buildout of a 24-hour newsroom and studio.
Before joining NewsNation, Lyons spent 30 years at WGN-TV, holding multiple leadership roles, including most recently News Director. She began her career in Iowa, working as a photographer, live truck operator, and producer for KWQC-TV in Davenport and WHO-TV in Des Moines.
Her honors include induction into the Chicago/Midwest Silver Circle in 2021 for more than 30 years of significant contributions to broadcasting, being named 2017 News Director of the Year by Broadcasting & Cable, and receiving multiple Chicago/Midwest Emmy and Silver Dome awards.
Lyons is a proud member of The Chicago Network. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Illinois Broadcasters Association Board, Chair of the Greenlee School of Journalism Advisory Council, and a Leader Council member for Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
She is a graduate of Iowa State University’s Greenlee School of Journalism, where she earned a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication.
