Emily Chase is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President at The University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana in 2004 and her PhD in Nursing Research and Administration from the University of Illinois in December 2012. Dr. Chase is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a certified Nurse Executive and a graduate of the Wharton Nurse Executive Program. From 2004 until 2011, Dr. Chase worked in the pediatric intensive care unit at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago as a staff nurse and manager of patient care operations. In July of 2011, Dr. Chase joined the University of Chicago Medicine as the Manager of Nursing Education, focusing on the clinical training initiatives for the move to a new adult hospital facility in February of 2013. Since that time, Dr. Chase has had multiple progressive leadership roles in the organization, including Vice-President of Comer Children’s Hospital as well as Chief Nursing Officer. In addition, she served as Interim President and CEO of UChicago Medicine’s Community Hospital, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, for 12 months during 2022. Dr. Chase has served as adjunct faculty in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program at her undergraduate alma mater, Saint Mary’s College, where she also served on the Board of Directors. Dr. Chase is a board member of the American Lung Association in Chicago and Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
