Originally from the Bronx, New York, Nancy Pacher graduated from the renowned Bronx High School of Science in 1968, and, in 1972 cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University. She began her law career in 1975 as the first woman attorney at the Chicago firm now known as Katten Muchin Rosenman (“Katten”).
In 1976, Pacher married Alan Berry, a partner at Katten, and had her first child in 1978 while still at the firm.
In 1980, Pacher was recruited by a client, Howard Ecker, to leave the practice of law and help him grow his five-year-old commercial real estate company and served for four years as a Senior Vice President and Principal of Howard Ecker & Co.
In the early 1980s, Pacher met Robert Wislow and Camille Julmy, the founding principals of U.S. Equities Realty. She joined the firm in 1984, and became President, Chief Operating Officer, and a Principal in January of 1993. U.S. Equities Realty was a full service commercial real estate firm, providing real estate brokerage, advisory, investment, asset management and development/construction management services with a staff of 540, and offices in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pacher headed the firm’s Real Estate Consulting and Transaction Services group where she acted as chief negotiator in major lease and lease/equity transactions totaling tens of millions of square feet for office space users throughout the United States.
Pacher, now Vice Chairman of CBRE, joined the firm following its acquisition of U.S. Equities Realty in 2014. Nancy has gained national recognition for her representation of major office space users. Included as major clients are: Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago; The Boston Consulting Group; Erikson Institute; Hinshaw & Culbertson; IBM Corporation; Illinois Housing Development Authority; Marsh & McLennan Companies; Polk Bros. Foundation; The PrivateBank; Taft LLP; Ventas; Winston & Strawn; and The YMCA of the USA.
She has twice received the coveted “Broker of the Year†award presented by Crain’s Chicago Business and has been a finalist four other times. Additional professional accomplishments include: Commercial Property News “Top Brokers,†Crain’s “100 Most Influential Women in Chicago,†Crain’s Chicago Business “Who’s Who in Chicago Business†since 2005, Today’s Chicago Woman 20th Anniversary Hall of Fame, and Midwest Real Estate News magazine’s Real Estate Hall of Fame.
Nancy graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University and received her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University.
Pacher resides in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood with her husband, Alan. She has two children, Lauren and Matt.
