Katie Spring is U.S. President of Edelman Smithfield and leads a national team of nearly 200 communication professionals. Working closely with C-suites, Boards of Directors, and external advisors, Katie counsels clients facing transformative events, including strategic situations and leadership transitions to fund launches, restructurings, crises, and other significant moments. Prior to joining Edelman Smithfield, Katie was the Chief Communications Officer at Citadel for nine years. She was responsible for public relations, public affairs, digital communications, philanthropy, and overall reputation management. Prior to Citadel, she led public relations at USAA, one of the top-rated financial institutions in the world. She was also a legislative aide to Senator Richard Lugar in Washington, D.C., and spent several years as a print and broadcast journalist. Katie graduated from Wellesley College and received her MBA from University of Notre Dame. She is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago Club, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Architectural Center.
