CSO Receives Record-setting Pair of Gifts Totaling $32 Million

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Board of Trustees announced a record-setting pair of gifts: $17 million from the Zell Family Foundation and $15 million from the Negaunee Foundation. Deborah Rutter (2004), Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association president, said the gifts will be integral to the orchestra's "long-range strategy to build up the endowment for a secure future. I'm indebted to these two extraordinary families."

"When you pour your heart and soul into an organization, you want it to remain in a great position when you move on," Deborah Rutter said. "These gifts help me feel that greatness and relief to see how well the institution will do."

In September, Deborah will become the first woman President of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Preforming Arts. Read more...
