Three Members of The Chicago Network on Fortune Magazine’s List of “50 Most Powerful Women in Business”

Rosenfeld, Boudreaux and Gordon among leadership group

October 16, 2013—Three women business leaders who are members of The Chicago Network are included in Fortune magazine’s annual list of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.” The executives, all repeat members on the prestigious list, are: Irene Rosenfeld, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mondelez International, Inc., listed at No. 6; Gail Boudreaux, Chief Executive Officer of UnitedHealthcare and Executive Vice President of UnitedHealth Group, No. 31;  and, Ilene Gordon, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ingredion Inc., No. 39.

Fortune calls the list of leaders “the definitive rankings of power and potential in the corporate world,” chosen on four criteria: the size and importance of the woman's business in the global economy, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman's career (resume and runway ahead), and social and cultural influence.

“The Chicago Network congratulates Irene, Gail and Ilene for this wonderful recognition of their outstanding leadership of successful organizations,” said Suzanne Bettman, Chair of The Chicago Network and Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer at R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company.

In its profile of each leader, Fortune noted that “nearly each is striving to reinvent her business.” Rosenfeld divided Kraft in two, and now heads Mondelez International (Kraft's former global snacking business). Boudreaux prepared UnitedHealth for the arrival of the Affordable Care Act “by adding more than 9 million members in Medicaid, Medicare, and corporate plans in the past year, including 2.9 million members of the military.” And, Gordon was praised for turning Ingredion, the 107-year-old ingredients maker, into a “highflier” – one of the oldest companies on Fortune's “Fastest-Growing Companies” list.
