The Chicago Network is thrilled to welcome home Chicago native and former TCN board member Valerie Jarrett to headline our 28th Annual Women in the Forefront Luncheon. Join us for this rare opportunity to hear a candid conversation with Valerie – one of the Nation's leading voices on equal opportunity, workplace and economic policies, and more.

About Valerie Jarrett:

Born in Shiraz, Iran, Valerie's family later moved to London before settling in Chicago. She got her start in Chicago politics in 1987 working for Mayor Harold Washington. Valerie joined the Obama White House in 2009 as a Senior Advisor and Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls with a background in both the public and private sectors, having served as the Chief Executive Officer of The Habitat Company in Chicago, Chairman of the Chicago Transit Board, Commissioner of Planning and Development, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. She has also served as the director of corporate and not-for-profit boards including being a former Chair of the board for the Chicago Stock Exchange and Chair of the University of Chicago Medical Center Board of Trustees, and Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Valerie has led the Obama Administration's efforts to ensure women and girls are able to compete on an even playing field, including advocating for workplace policies that empower working families such as equal pay, paid leave, paid sick days, affordable child care, and ending sexual assault, as well as economically and politically empowering women in the United States and around the world. She has led the campaigns to raise the minimum wage, end gun violence, fight for LGBT rights, support early childhood education, and reform the criminal justice system.  Through her tireless advocacy and engagement she has built broad coalitions dedicated to executing a robust agenda to strengthen our country.
